Maybe you have a hard time focusing on work or school, keeping up with your to-do list, and maintaining social obligations. Many People In Our World Today Face Challenges Caused By ADHD
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 11.4% of U.S. children (3 to 17 years old) are diagnosed with ADHD and the percentage of youth diagnosed increases each year.* Although ADHD symptoms typically appear by age 3 to 6 years, many people are not diagnosed until later in childhood or even adulthood.
Individuals with ADHD typically have a longstanding history of behavioral problems including inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. They generally understand what is expected of them, but struggle to carry out tasks nonetheless. Symptoms of ADHD range from mild to severe and can often impact functioning across multiple settings including the home, school, work, and the broader community.
ADHD in women and girls is significantly underdiagnosed. Because ADHD often presents differently in females — more as inattention, emotional dysregulation, and internalized struggles rather than hyperactivity — it is frequently overlooked or misattributed to anxiety or depression. Dr. Anna has specialized experience evaluating and supporting women and girls with ADHD, including those who have spent years wondering why they've always felt different, overwhelmed, or unable to keep up despite trying their hardest
In Today’s World, ADHD Is Especially Hard To Manage
This is because of the constant bombardment of technology, social media content, and tech-related distractions. Furthermore, family values and cultural attitudes about ADHD may delay individuals or families from speaking with a mental health professional and seeking a diagnosis. Many families and cultures don’t believe in seeking mental health support, which only makes ADHD worse.
The truth is that there is no shame in taking an ADHD assessment, as it can give you a clear understanding of your challenges and set you up for future success. ADHD testing will show you which of the three ADHD subtypes (i.e., inattentive, impulsive/hyperactive, and combined) fits your symptoms profile best. Based on which ADHD subtype you have, you can then make informed decisions about treatment and accommodations.
ADHD Testing Can Help You Understand Yourself On A Deeper Level And Set You Up For Future Success.
Obtaining an ADHD assessment is necessary for an accurate diagnosis since it helps confirm whether your symptoms are caused by ADHD or another condition. With a proper diagnosis, you can seek out more effective treatment and support including behavioral interventions, environmental accommodations, and medication as well as executive functioning/ADHD coaching and lifestyle changes like diet and exercise.
In addition to a formal diagnosis, you’ll receive a detailed report outlining test results, an individualized treatment plan, and appropriate community referrals. The treatment for ADHD includes—but isn’t limited to—behavioral therapy, parent coaching, executive functioning training, medication, and modification of school or work environments. After the ADHD assessment process is complete, Dr. Hung is available for follow-up care to help you achieve and maintain success following testing.
On a deeper level, an ADHD evaluation can lead to better self-esteem, increase your self-awareness, and reveal your strengths and weaknesses related to ADHD. Greater understanding can empower you to leverage your strengths and address areas that need improvement.
For children, early testing can help them connect to interventions that enable them to manage symptoms and improve long-term outcomes. Most families appreciate expediency during the testing process so that the evaluation report is completed quickly and your child is connected with appropriate support, services, and resources.
What To Expect During ADHD Testing Sessions
All ADHD evaluations are conducted primarily via telehealth on a secure, HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform, with hybrid in-person options available on a limited basis in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sarasota, FL and PSYPACT states.
Drawing from over a decade of neuropsychological and psychological testing, Dr. Hung helps children, teens, and adults understand ADHD as well as other mental health conditions.
Clinical Interview — The ADHD assessment process starts with a thorough clinical interview to obtain information about your concerns, symptoms, daily functioning, and developmental history.
Questionnaires — Following the clinical interview, you’ll be asked to complete standardized questionnaires and rating scales about behavior, attention, mood, anxiety, and other relevant concerns. Collateral information from parents, caregivers, and teachers will be collected when feasible and applicable.
Formal Testing — The ADHD assessment process may also include cognitive testing to assess attention, memory, and executive functioning. The test battery is tailored to each individual and will depend on the referral question(s). For instance, an ADOS-2 or WISC-V may be added to the battery if you’re seeking diagnostic clarification about autism or cognitive functioning, respectively.
Feedback Session — Shortly after testing is complete (typically within one-to-two weeks), you’ll receive a written report that includes a summary of the results and recommendations. The results of the report will be reviewed in detail during the feedback session. The evaluation report is yours to share with your family, school, employer, or healthcare team.

Yes. A comprehensive ADHD evaluation also explores other factors that may be contributing to a person’s experiences, including anxiety and mood-related concerns. Many neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions can share overlapping traits or co-occur alongside ADHD, so taking a broader, individualized approach helps provide greater clarity and more meaningful recommendations.
It is also common for individuals with ADHD to have co-occurring differences or mental health concerns. According to the CDC*, many children with ADHD also experience another emotional, behavioral, developmental, or learning-related condition.

Yes — and this is an area Dr. Anna is especially passionate about. ADHD in women and girls is frequently missed or misdiagnosed because it often presents differently than in males — showing up as inattention, perfectionism, emotional sensitivity, and chronic overwhelm rather than hyperactivity. Many women reach adulthood having been told they have anxiety or depression, never realizing ADHD may have been at the root of their struggles all along. Dr. Anna provides comprehensive ADHD evaluations for adults of all ages, including those seeking answers for the first time later in life.

While there is some overlap — both evaluations assess attention, executive functioning, and behavioral patterns — ADHD testing and autism testing focus on different areas. ADHD testing primarily evaluates attention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and executive functioning. Autism testing takes a broader look at social communication, sensory processing, flexibility, and patterns of behavior across settings. Because ADHD and autism frequently co-occur, Dr. Anna often evaluates for both within a single comprehensive assessment when clinically indicated, ensuring nothing is missed and you leave with a complete picture of your needs and strengths. No, people diagnosed with ADHD aren’t required to take medication. Treatment decisions, including whether to take medication, are personal and best when made collaboratively between the individual (or, for minors, their parents/caregivers), and healthcare provider(s). Medication is just one option among several for managing ADHD symptoms. Individuals are encouraged to explore additional treatment options including executive functioning/ADHD coaching, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes.
